Quarter ThreeJanuary to March 2019
Our focus this quarter was launching the 2019 regional competitions. With 34 different regions, we wanted to make sure convenors, judges, volunteers and competitors felt supported, and that we could deliver a thorough and exhilarating competition for all involved. We continued to participate in a number of industry events and started more detailed preparations for the upcoming Global Skills Challenge (GSC).
Our community love to talk about their WorldSkills experiences. In this financial year, 41 Skillaroos, BBM Recipients and National Champions, Experts, Mentors and Regional Representatives have presented at or attended 50 different events across Australia.
WorldSkills Australia Regional Competitions
Happening all over the country from February to November, regionals kicked-off the journey towards the 2020 National Championships. This year we offered 59 skill competition projects, 44 open age and 15 VETiS. Currently, to date, there are 520 open and 67 VETiS competitions officially registered throughout the 34 WorldSkills Australia regions. That’s an increase of 36% – or an additional 154 skill competitions – compared to the 2017 Regional Competitions.
WorldSkills Exhibit at the International Air Show
We took part in this amazing industry event in Avalon, alongside the Victoria Government, to promote our 2019 competitions. Two of our Skills Squad members representing Mechatronics were there to answer questions and talk about their valuable experiences.
