Quarter One

July - September 2018

Highlight

Quarter one saw the WorldSkills Australia team add to the momentum of activity after the national championships. We began preparation and training for the 2019 Skills Squad and continued to cultivate a broader audience through key media and education partnerships. We began laying the foundation for all the 2019 competitions and continued to support the development of regional competitions nation-wide.

2019 Skills Squad

A team of 25 young Australians were selected to join this coveted squad after their success at the 2018 WorldSkills Australia National Championships. The Skills Squad represent the ‘best of the best’ from around the country, each with a unique story and set
of skills.

Skills Squad Training Camp

Skills Squad team members attended their first training camp in September at Phillip Island, Victoria. They collaborated on comprehensive training plans with their training managers, participated in team-building activities, and listened to a range of guest speakers, including a talk on resilience and competition pressure from Australian Olympic swimmer,
Joshua Beaver.

VET Alumni

33 WorldSkills Australia 2018 National Championship medallists completed their applications to become Australian Apprenticeship Ambassadors/VET Alumni representatives. Our young people are passionate about what they do, and they’re excited to share it with the rest of the country.
